Point your phone at the scene to measure light. EV updates in real-time. Use Aperture Priority to set your f-stop and get a calculated shutter speed, or Shutter Priority for the reverse. The viewfinder shows an orange frame matching your lens focal length and film format.
Five modes for any scene.
Average, Center-Weighted, and Incident are free. Pro unlocks Spot and Multi-spot Zone metering, which uses Roman numerals (I-X) for precise tonal placement following the Ansel Adams Zone System (up to 3 points with per-spot zone assignment).
Seven optimized recommendations.
In Auto mode, the app recommends optimal aperture/shutter combinations. Choose from 7 priorities: Balanced, Freeze Motion, Motion Blur, Max Sharpness (sweet spot f/5.6-f/8), Max DOF, Handheld Safe (1/focal length rule), and Minimize Reciprocity.
Expose for the film, not the meter.
Four profiles: Balanced (pure reading), Highlight Priority (-0.7 stop, best for slides), Shadow Priority (+1.0 stop, best for negatives), Film Optimized (automatic per-stock compensation - Portra +1.0, Velvia -0.7, Ektar +0.3).
Catch problems before you shoot.
Handheld shake risk (1/focal length rule). Diffraction at small apertures (format-aware). Dynamic range clipping (slide vs negative). ND filter suggestions when too bright. Reciprocity failure for long exposures. Bulb mode when exceeding your camera's slowest speed.
Stack filters. Stops combine automatically.
Add ND filters (ND2-ND1000), CPL polarizers (0.5-2 stops), or UV filters. Stack multiple filters and stops combine automatically. Teleconverter magnification and extension tube light loss are calculated from your lens focal length.
Guide number math. Manual or fill.
Add flashes with accurate guide numbers. In Manual mode, set distance and the app calculates exact aperture and sync speed. Fill mode balances flash with ambient light. Leaf shutter intelligence for Hasselblad and Mamiya.
Depth of field. Field of view. Format-aware.
The DOF strip shows near/far limits in real-time. Tap HF to set hyperfocal distance for maximum sharpness. The orange frame matches your lens focal length and format aspect ratio (35mm, 6x6, 6x7, etc.). Pro adds LiDAR distance measurement on iPhone Pro models.
Seven overlays for the viewfinder.
Rule of Thirds, Golden Ratio (Phi), Golden Spiral, Diagonals, Triangle, 4x4 Grid, and Center Cross. Combine with film simulation to preview how your shot will look with composition structure.
24 film looks. Live preview.
Live preview of how your film will render the scene. 24 looks including Portra, Ektar, Velvia, Tri-X, HP5, CineStill 800T, and more. Each simulates characteristic color, contrast, and saturation. Automatically matches your selected film stock.
Countdown for long exposures.
When logging a bulb exposure, the app shows a full-screen countdown timer. The countdown appears in Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen. When it reaches zero, you feel a vibration and can log the shot. Pro adds film-specific reciprocity correction so the target time matches what your film actually needs.
One tap. 30+ fields saved.
Tap LOG SHOT to record your exposure with full metadata: camera, lens, aperture, shutter, filters, location, reference photo, and any active warnings. Review warnings later to correlate with shot success. On developed rolls, swipe right to mark shots as Success or Favorite.

Each camera has its own active roll. Switch cameras and each one remembers its loaded film. Film backs for Hasselblad, Mamiya RB/RZ, and Bronica - each back tracks its own roll and frame count. When done, mark complete or developed. Completed rolls show stats and export options.
Push two stops. The meter knows.
When loading a roll, choose to push (shoot at higher ISO, overdevelop) or pull (lower ISO, underdevelop). The meter automatically adjusts for your shooting ISO. A badge shows push/pull status on the main screen and in Roll Log. Development instructions are saved with each roll.

Export equipment and shot logs as PDF, CSV, or ExifTool commands. Use ExifTool scripts to tag your scanned film photos with exact exposure data. Copy metadata to clipboard. Reference photos are saved to an F8t album with info card overlays containing full EXIF.
